House building in England hits 12 month high

7 December 2017

In a recent publication by John Mclarty, Head of Planning at Stutt & Parker it was reported that just over 217,000 homes were built or converted in England in the 12 months to April 2017, the highest number since 2007/08.

However, the growth was patchy with 37% of local authorities having fewer houses built than during the previous year. Just over 180,000 homes were newly built and 37,000 were changes of use, mainly from offices to homes, which is a vast increase from previous levels. There were 330 agriculture to residential conversions.
