Tractors prohibited on motorways

14 February 2017

On the 9th February, a farmer was stopped by police for driving his tractor on the M54 motorway. The police then escorted the farmer off the motorway.

A spokesman of Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) said “for any aspiring farmers out there, tractors are prohibited from being driven on motorways.”

CMPG state that Rule 253 of the Highway Code prohibits certain slow-moving vehicles and agricultural vehicles from using the motorway.
