According to Essex Police a total of 940 drivers have been breathalysed since the launch of their Christmas crackdown on drink and drug driving.
Fifty two of those tested were found to be over the limit or refused or failed to provide a sample.
A total of 21 drivers have been tested with roadside drug testing kits and three tested positive.
