Gepps sponsor Annual General Meeting in the rain…

20 March 2013

The County Land & Business Associations AGM was to be held at Colemans Farm just outside Witham, but due to the very wet weather conditions the venue was moved to Rivenhall Oaks Golf Club.

As with every year the event, which was jointly sponsored with Whirledge & Nott, was very well attended by the farming community from across the county and beyond. After the usual formalities the guests were treated to two interesting presentations. The first was from Simon Brice on flint knives and arrow heads found on his land left behind by Blackwater Palaeolithic man circa 2.5 million years ago!

The second talk was on how to turn a cleft of willow in to a cricket bat! Geoff Watling of Anglian Willow Services fells willow on Simon Brice’s 1400 acre farm before passing them on to some of the top cricket manufacturers in the world.

The CLA and Gepp & Sons will be sharing a marquee on Sunday the 20th May at theEssex Young Farmers Show. Please feel free to pop in and enjoy our hospitality on the day and raise and agricultural related questions you might have.
