Call for criminal sanctions against care home owners.

28 March 2014

Former Health Minister, Paul Burstow's plans are set out in a report on care and corporate neglect calling for unlimited fines and criminal sanction for companies owning care homes.

Following the Government Report on the abuse at Gloucestershire’s Winterbourne View Hospital it announced more accountability is required of senior management and increased inspections and regulations of hospitals.  Burstow believes that the prospect of such sanctions would significantly improve the standards of other care home owners by providing a clear message that abuse and neglect of any kind will not be tolerated.
