The Employment Act 2008 comes into force on 6th April 2009 and makes important changes to the handling of discipline and grievance issues. The legislation introduced a new ACAS Code of Practice which you will need to follow. If there is an unreasonable failure by you to follow the relevant Code then Employment Tribunal can make a discretionary uplift of 25% of the compensation awarded if they find in the employee’s favour.
